A Cutting Frenzy

I cut the block pieces for two more quilts.  For the first one I am going to use "Yellow Brick Road" and Moda Summer Breeze.  The second one is batik fabrics and I am using "Crazy Eights."  The Summer Breeze is for me.  I am a sucker for florals and this one is especially pretty in white, blue, yellow and green.  The second is for another donation quilt top.

Now to put everything together.

Picnic Quilt

Last weekend I finished up piecing my picnic quilt from Nature's Made by Moda.  It was all woven fabric.  I prewashed the fat quarters and they were not happy.  Had a little fraying here and there.  It did turn out cute.  My daughter and grandson should enjoy this.  She is a fanatic about blue.  I used my go to pattern "Fat Quarter Shuffle."  You cut six fat quarters at a time and then shuffle fabric in the different sized piles according to a certain order, i.e. take 1 and put it on the bottom.  Next pile take 2 and put on the bottom, etc.  It is quick to come together.

This weekend I am working on using up a couple more twelve fat quarter bundles of fabric I ordered on-line a couple of years ago.  My taste in fabric has changed over time and I am making some quilt tops that I can donate.  Someone will like that fabric I am sure.  I did not get the one that I finished done in time to take pictures so I will have to do that tomorrow.

I am thinking about getting a Juki TL2000Qi.  If anyone has any experience with a Juki machine I would appreciate comments.

Hover Quilt

I got my Hover quilt done from the pattern in Scrap Republic.  I had fun piecing all the logs.  It is nice and colorful.

Also other news.  We finally have an executive council, bylaws, rules and regulations and membership dues for the Austin Modern Quilt Guild.  We only had one volunteer for each position on the executive council.  It is a start.  I went bold and volunteered for President.  With Quiltcon coming to Austin in February it should be a jammed pack year for us.

Jungle Quilt

Okay.  I got a little carried away on ebay buying fabric a couple of years ago.  Some of the fabric choices were a bit iffy.  I am trying to find a good use for some of that fabric.  Here are my six jungle fat quarters and four fat quarters of some bright Free Spirit solids put together using the pattern "Rainbow's End."  I think I am going to just use a solid for the backing but I am not sure what color.  My husband said I need to trim it in yellow.  I bought thread to match each of the solids so it will be interesting to see what I can do with it.

I finished up my June block for my block swap and sent it off last week.  My first wonky log cabin block.  I should say second,  I had trimming problems on block #1.

Today I am going to get started on a quilt from "Scrap Republic".  Let's put it this way, I cut a lot of logs over the weekend.
